A Muslim filmmaker - behind the scenes of Pinewood Studios

Rizwan Wadan is a British Muslim filmmaker and renowned for developing one of the most versatile and powerful systems available in the film industry, leading to work on productions such as Star Wars, Disney’s Artemis Fowl, The Favourite, Luther amongst other big budget features, dramas and commercials.

His most recent hard-hitting short film “The Martyrs” has been discussed in the national press this week.

Rizwan considers it part of his social responsibility to tackle socio-political issues through the visual medium and to help nurture new talent within the filming industry. He is currently setting up initiatives (workshops, training, mentoring, film fund) to help creatives from BAME and Muslim backgrounds to gain the skills, on-set etiquettes, experience and respect of hierarchy required to work in the filming industry.
