Itzea is a postdoctoral researcher at SOAS (University of London). She holds a PhD in History at EUI (Florence, 2017), MA in Gender & Feminist Studies at UPV/EHU (Bilbao, 2012) and BA in Translation & Interpreting at UAB (Barcelona, 2007). Her research interests include Islam and Islamophobia in Europe, gender and decolonial studies, colonial (Spanish) Morocco, trans-Saharan slavery and sub-Saharan populations in the Maghrib, Maghribi literary history and the history of sexuality.
