Event Details
Asha Parkinson will describe working with pupils (from Akiva Jewish, Iqra Islamic and St Peter’s Primary (Woolwich)) Schools who took part in the original performance at St James’ Church Piccadilly in January 2017. She will also talk about the impact on them and on the schools themselves.
Her presentation will include a 17 minute video of the 2017 performance of “What War?” and videos of interviews with some of the children who took part. Asha was inspired to write “What War?” by the plight of Syrian refugees and the peaceful teachings of the three Abrahamic faiths. She will touch upon the role of music in the Jewish and Christian traditions and the role the three Faiths need to play in promoting peace and harmony in the Middle East and North Africa region.
