Daphne Giachero is a Community Organiser with Harrow and Brent Citizens, two local alliances of civic institutions such as faith groups, schools and charities which we as Mahfil Ali SICM are part of and which come together to build people power and to take action for the common good by campaigning on the issues affecting our communities, such as tackling poverty or welcoming refugees. Moreover, as a convert to Islam, Daphne is motivated in her work by the belief that Community Organising can offer a practical framework for Muslims who want to be people of justice, as we are called to be. She is a graduate in anthropology and human rights from the London School of Economics and has made London her home after growing up in Italy and Germany. She joins us to share some reflections on these topics and to invite us to the Harrow Citizens Accountability Assembly that is taking place next week with the candidates for Council Leader ahead of the local elections in May
