Daily learning
DAILY CHILDRENS’ CLASSES
This month of Ramadan, we will once again be providing a daily children’s class at Mahfil inshAllah. These classes have been a great success over the years, and we are very pleased to be providing them once again. The classes aim to teach children about Islam, help them with their recitation and memorisation of the Qur’an, help improve their connection with the Qur’an and gives them a great opportunity to make good Muslim friends.
Classes will be split into 3 age groups: 4-6, 7-9 and 10-14.
Classes will run daily from 5.30pm, and will be structured as folows:
5.30 – 6.00: Qur’an recitation
6.00 until 10 minutes before Maghrib: Short talk (from week 2 once the maghrib time is delayed)
March 31st to April 8th:Â
5.30 – 6.00: Qur’an recitation
6.00 – 6.30: Activity
The portakabin will be available for parents to stay if they would like to during the classes.
The main Ramadan programme will run start straight after.
Please note that attendance is strictly by registration only. As there is often a waiting list for the classes, if your children don’t attend regularly without notice, we will offer their space to others on the list to enable the maximum number of students to benefit from the class inshAllah.Â
Registrations are now closed due to very high demand. If you would like to join the waitlist, please email children@sicm.org.uk.
MONTHLY CHALLENGE
QUR’AN MEMORISATION
Every year, children recite the 30th Juz on the night of Eid. This year, we will be reciting the 30th Juz together on 9th April 2024.Â
We invite all children who are attending the classes this year to memorise a NEW surah, and then recite it from memory for us all on the last night of Ramadan. They should choose a surah they don’t know yet, and then can start memorising this at home from now until the end of the month. We will also give them encouragement and help during the daily classes.
If you are interested in your children memorising a surah this month, please indicate which surah they’d like to memorise when you sign up for the daily classes. You can see the line up for the big day below.
Please note that in order for your child to recite a surah on the 9th April, they will need to be attending the children’s classes regularly. Surahs available are first come, first serve. We may make surahs unavailable to ensure we have time on the night for all kids to recite their memorised surah, and to ensure we find reciters for al the surahs.
HAPPY MEMORISING!

Family Quran Quiz
If you are looking for something else to work on with the children during the holy month, we developed a 30 day quiz based on 30 Surahs from the Qur’an a few years ago. These are aimed at children aged 7+.Â
Each day there is a different Surah, parents are encouraged to download the quiz and to work through these with their children.Â
