Join us as we welcome Nada al Hudaid as she delivers a talk entitled “Shia religious art in the Arab world and beyond”.

Nada is a Yemeni social and visual anthropologist specialising in contemporary Islamic art. Her research interests include the anthropology of art, visual culture, and religion.
In 2019, she obtained her PhD at the University of Manchester on the materiality of Shia artists in Kuwait. More specifically, she focused on female artists who were able to establish their own religious settings and practice piety through art.
Currently, she is working as a research fellow in the Alterumma project at Lund University, which is led by Prof. Oliver Scharbrodt, and focusing on the materiality of art in relation to dreams and miracles among Shia in Kuwait and the United Kingdom.
In addition to her academic interests, she is a filmmaker with a keen passion for visual productions and social media management.
