Dr. Ursula Bsees (PhD 2015, University of Vienna) is a researcher specialised in Arabic Papyrology (especially literary texts), Islamic manuscripts, and Islamic Popular Religion. Her current project examines scholarly culture, the transmission of knowledge, and the intellectual landscape in Early Islamic Egypt.

She teaches and does research at the Institute for Near and Middle Eastern Studies at LMU Munich, Germany, where she also manages a project on the Typology of Arabic Documents
