Sajjad Rizvi is Associate Professor of Islamic Intellectual History and Islamic Studies at the University of Exeter and the Director of the Centre for the Study of Islam.
His principal research interest is in Islamic intellectual history. His particular interests grew from PhD at Cambridge on the philosophy of Mulla Sadra Shirazi (d.c. 1636) and lie in post-Avicennan philosophical, theological and mystical traditions. His second main area of interest is Qur’anic exegesis and textual hermeneutics.
He has advised various government departments and private sector concerns on Iraq, Iran, Shi’i Islam in the Gulf, and Islam in Britain and Europe.
