After studying and teaching in the Islamic Seminaries of Iran for nine years, Shaykh Shomali began his MPhil in Asian and Middle Eastern Studies focusing on interfaith relations. He has now started his PhD on early Arabic scripts from different collections around the world. During his nine years in the Islamic Seminaries of Iran he studied and later taught Ancient and Modern Arabic, Greek Logic, Theology, Ancient and Western Philosophy, Islamic History, and Islamic Jurisprudence. He has taught and delivered lectures in universities in different countries such as Tanzania, South Africa, Iran and the UK. In order to have direct access to primary sources he spent a lot of his time learning languages. He reads and writes in Persian, Arabic, French, and Swahili.
